Fun Pictures

 Today we're going to look at some fun pictures.

First up is a picture of the castle that I took way back on our first trip.  I like the picture because I think it's good.  I also like it because it reminds me of my old boss, Scooter Howell.  He wasn't too happy that I was going to Disneyland for a week and on our first morning, while we were taking pictures by the castle, he texted me asking for some spreadsheet or something. I took this picture and sent it to him, along with an explanation that his precious spreadsheet would have to wait until later!




Next up is another picture from the first time we went.  This time we're eating pizza and spaghetti at the worst restaurant in the park: Alien Pizza Planet.  We wound up eating here because we were going to ride Space Mountain and this place is right by that ride, and some of our kids were getting intolerably hangry.  I spilled my blue Powerade on my pizza.  A few hours later Jenna started throwing up.  She tried to blame Space Mountain, but I told her "no way!" The food was fine, but man, there are much better options than this!


I don't know what it is about wanting a picture by the train station right as we go through the front gates to the park.  After we finally show our tickets and we're in the park all I can think about is how fast we can get to Pirates.  But, we seem to like a picture here at the entrance. We're not the only ones who have thought of this.  If you look closely at this picture you can see a tensa barrier designating the area the guests use to line up for a picture.  We wanted this picture, but we didn't want to wait in a line to take a picture.  We hustled into position and took a quick pic.  You'll notice that we aren't quite centered with the train station-that's because there was another family in the "sweet spot" taking all day with their pictures.  We grabbed a quick pic and got out of there!

Churros!

 The churros at Disneyland hit different.  I once ate two churros at the Phoenix Zoo and they were not good.  Anther time, we made churros at home.  They were fine.  The churros at Costco are pretty darn good, but man, the Disneyland churros are awesome!  Part of it is the ambiance surrounding the churro cart-it's the happiest place on earth.  Another part of it is that they are really good!  When we go this fall you can bet I'll eat a whole bunch of churros! Look at this kid!  His mom is making him take a picture, but all he wants to do is plow through that churro like it's the last one at the park! We don't have any really young kids anymore, but you gotta start 'em out young eating churros! Isn't it crazy how much joy a piece of fried dough can bring? Ducks of Disneyland

Yes, this is a post about ducks.  And I know this is a blog about Disneyland, but these ducks live at Disneyland! There are quite a few ducks at Disneyland.  In fact, there is an Instagram account called @ducksofdisneyland.  Now, I haven't been on Insta in a long time, so that account may not exist anymore.  Maybe drop a note in the comments to tell me if it does or does not. These ducks are NOT scared of humans.  This first picture is of Jenna trying to take a selfie with a duck! The ducks don’t always have it easy, though.   Sometimes they get trampled by people.   Sometimes they get got by the feral cats that roam the park at night.   Sometimes other, larger birds, attack the ducklings.   But, these ducks totally live at Disneyland!   Small price to pay to actually live at the park! Autopia Go Carts

This ride...it's not really a ride.  It looks cool because you get to drive a car. I'll be that was a real treat for lots of people when the park opened in 1955.  The issue now is that we've all seen cars, ridden in cars, and know all about cars.  The novelty of driving a car is long gone.  In fact, in order for us to even get to the Autopia attraction we have to ride in a car for a good 10+ hours! The other thing about this ride is how slow the cars actually go.  The last time I rode this ride I was pressing my foot so hard on the gas pedal and we topped out at a whopping 4mph.  That is just a bit north of walking speed.  It's a bit disappointing. The last complaint I have about this ride is the weird guiderail in the middle of the track.  That thing makes it really difficult to goof off as you drive along.  I think you could probably just push the gas pedal and never touch the steering wheel.  That guiderail will keep you in the middle...
