More Snacks!

It has been a few days since we last saw a post about all the wonderful snacks the park offers.  Lissa and her family have tried most of the snacks.  Zac once got a churro at nearly every churro cart in Disneyland. I've said it before and I'll say it again: a large part of why I like to go is the snacks!

One thing I want to clear up is the difference between a macaron and a macaroon.  First, notice the spelling.  One little "o" has led to so much confusion.  Let this blog post be your guide as you try to learn the difference between two snacks.

A macaron is a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond meal, and food coloring. A typical Parisian-style macaron is presented with a ganache, buttercream, or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies.  Here is an example:

Now let's consider the macaroon. A macaroon is a small cake, typically made from ground almonds, coconut, or other nuts.  Disneyland uses coconut for theirs.  Here is the famous Matterhorn Macaroon:

See the difference?  Good.

Oh, by the way, at the time of this writing the macaron (sandwich cookie) can be purchased at Jolley Holiday Bakery Café for $6.99.  The Matterhorn Macaroon can be purchased at the Jolley Holiday for $3.99.

Moving on. They have this corn on the cob that is really good.  They have a chili-lime flavored cob that is awesome! I know, it sounds strange to order corn on the cob at Disneyland.  It's a good idea to order it because you will spend the rest of the day picking the corn out of your teeth, which is a great way to kill time while you wait in line to ride Cars.  That is exactly what Christian is doing here:

  1. I could go to Disney just for the snacks, but you gotta ride the rides in between churro cart runs
