Thrice as Nice
Did you happen to see the title of this post? Thrice as Nice. I don't get to use the word thrice very often. The word thrice is old-fashioned. We don't really use it anymore, unless we're trying to come up with a clever blog post. Three times is the modern, accepted way to say it. But who cares, really? The reason I bring it up is because of Goofy's Sky School. Some people like this ride, others don't. I do. It's fun. It's rough, but fun.
Here you see everyone holding up three fingers. This is because we did something that was thought to be impossible: we rode this ride three times in a row (thrice) without getting off. We got to DCA in time for rope drop and while everyone else in the park ran straight to the Cars ride, we hit this ride, and hit it hard.
Goofy’s Sky School at Disney California Adventure is a wacky, wild mouse coaster that lets you experience the high-flying antics of Goofy’s “unique” take on aviation school. Inspired by the classic Disney short “Goofy’s Glider,” this ride is a zany roller coaster that feels like what would happen if Goofy himself decided to teach you how to fly—spoiler alert: it’s not exactly smooth sailing.
As you approach Goofy’s Sky School, the quirky aviation theme is hard to miss. The ride is decked out in cartoonish, retro-flying school decorations, with plenty of signs showcasing Goofy’s “expert” flying tips—like “When in doubt, flap your arms!” The whole setup feels like a delightful throwback to an old-school flight school run by, well, someone who probably shouldn’t be running a flight school.
Once you’ve made your way through the queue (filled with even more Goofy-isms), you’ll hop into your ride vehicle, which looks like a tiny airplane that’s more suited for comic mishaps than actual aviation. And if you’re thinking, “How hard could this be?”—buckle up. Goofy’s Sky School takes the idea of a flying lesson and turns it into a wild, hairpin-turning, brake-slamming, roller-coaster dash that feels more like a crash course in disaster management than anything else.
As soon as you’re lifted up to the first drop, Goofy’s less-than-reassuring voice echoes in your ears with well-meaning but slightly dubious advice. Then, without warning, you’re off! The track is filled with sharp zigzags, sudden turns, and quick dips that make you feel like you’re just barely hanging on to the seat of your pants. The ride is what’s known as a “wild mouse” coaster, which means it’s all about quick, tight maneuvers rather than long, swooping drops.
Each twist and turn feels like you’re one step away from flying off the track (don’t worry, you won’t!), but that’s all part of the chaotic fun. The jerky, fast-paced nature of the ride, combined with Goofy’s comically bad flight instructions, makes every hairpin turn feel like an unpredictable adventure. It’s like Goofy decided to turn a roller coaster into a slapstick comedy sketch, and you’re along for the hilarious ride.
Goofy’s Sky School isn’t the tallest or fastest coaster in the park, but what it lacks in height, it makes up for in pure, goofy chaos. The ride’s smaller drops and quick turns create a sense of thrill that’s perfect for kids and adults alike who are looking for a bit of fun without the heart-stopping intensity of bigger coasters. Plus, the unexpected jolts and tight corners will have you laughing, gasping, and maybe even holding on to your seat for dear life—all in good fun, of course.
By the time you pull back into the station, you’ll be laughing about how Goofy’s “flying school” is more like a master class in how not to fly, but that’s exactly what makes it such a blast. Goofy’s Sky School is a lighthearted, giggle-inducing roller coaster that embraces its cartoonish chaos with open arms.
So, if you’re ready to take to the skies with Goofy as your instructor, grab your pilot’s hat (and maybe a little courage), and prepare for a bumpy but unforgettable ride. Just remember: in Goofy’s world, the sky’s the limit—even if that means you’re zigzagging your way there with a lot of laughs and a few “yikes!” moments along the way!
Here's some more of this story that seems to be having a hard time getting anywhere:
The Speedy Feast
The dining area buzzed with excitement and chatter as
everyone ate quickly, eager to start their day at Disneyland.
"This is the best breakfast ever," Lincoln
declared between mouthfuls of waffle.
"Eat fast, everyone," Steve urged. "We need
to get to the Toy Story parking area in time for the rope drop."
As they devoured their breakfast, Kevin and Brandon started
a playful contest to see who could eat their waffles the fastest. Syrup and
laughter flew everywhere as the competition heated up.
"You’ve got syrup on your nose," Brandon pointed
out, laughing at Kevin.
"You’ve got syrup on your ear," Kevin shot back,
giggling.
