Fun YouTube Video

I'm going to post some random pictures, but the highlight of this post is the YouTube video I found the other day. It's short, but I thought it was really cool. So, enjoy some old pics of us at the park and then make sure to watch the video at the end!

Every time I see this picture I think "Do you even lift, bro?" Haha!


We haven't seen much of Small World lately, so here's a picture to remind you that 1) it's a ride in the park and 2) it will be closed while we're there. Total bummer on that one!  You'll also notice that this picture was NOT take at the ride, but somewhere else in the park!


Oh man, this dumb ferris wheel is ridiculous. It's great in the background of family pictures but the ride is dumb.  Look at these boys on the ride, faking excitement as if they really like the thing.


The Jumping Jellyfish ride is in DCA. It's tame. It's near Goofy's Sky School. It's near the corndog place. Sometimes we ride it.


It's hard to get good pics while riding Space Mounting.  I don't know if you remember, but it's dark in there! And the ride is fast. Anyway, here's one of some of us waiting in line.

Now that we've had some fun let's continue the long story. It feels like we've been riding the Rise of the Resistance ride for four days!

Facing Kylo Ren

But the biggest surprise came when they found themselves face-to-face with Kylo Ren again. The dark figure ignited his lightsaber and stalked toward them.

“He’s coming for us!” Reagan screamed, hiding behind her hands.

Kylo Ren used the Force, pulling their vehicle toward him, but a sudden explosion rocked the Star Destroyer, and debris rained down, forcing Kylo to retreat.

“Did we just beat Kylo Ren?!” Gage asked, unable to believe what had just happened.

“I think we did!” Zac replied, equally amazed.

The Escape Pod

The final part of the ride saw their vehicle enter an escape pod that blasted them out of the Star Destroyer. The sensation of freefall made every kid scream with laughter and excitement.

“We’re going down! We’re going down!” Kaiden yelled, as the pod dropped toward Batuu.

With a loud crash (and a soft landing), they safely returned to the Resistance base.

Post-Ride Celebration

As they exited the ride, the kids were buzzing with excitement.

“That was the best thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” Kevin declared.

“I felt like we were really in Star Wars,” Gage added, still trying to catch his breath. “Like, we almost got captured!”

“And we totally destroyed Kylo Ren’s ship,” Trevor added proudly.

Brandon grinned. “See? I told you guys, with me and the DAS pass, we didn’t have to wait three hours. And it was totally worth it!”

The families laughed, amazed at how real the experience had felt, and already planning their next adventure in the galaxy far, far away.

"Flash" Mountain

When they first put in Splash Mountain back in 1989 the camera near the top of the big drop was a new and novel idea.  It didn't take long for people to start doing weird things for the camera.  It also didn't take long for people to start doing things like flipping the bird.  One thing that some people did was "flash" the camera.  Now, this started to happen enough that the ride earned the nickname Flash Mountain AND a Disney employee was assigned to review the pictures before they were posted on the TV screens.  The job was to delete any of the pictures with inappropriate images.  Today, Disney has a software program that does the filtering.  Now, I'm not saying Lissa is doing anything inappropriate here (and Disney agrees because they let the picture through) but what the heck is she doing?

Universal Studios

Remember that time we went to Universal Studios? That was fun. We rode the Mario ride, which was a let down.  How is it that the line for the ride was better than the actual ride? Mario Land was really cool.  I thought it was fun to see all of the different stuff from the Mario video games. I also liked that the music in the bathroom was from the underwater worlds of the original Super Mario Bros game. It's funny, though, because I don't feel that draw to Universal Studios like I feel it for Disneyland. When we went in the late 80s/early 90s that shark was so cool. Driving, Day 2

Today we drive from St. George to Disneyland. Here is the long story, in its entirety. You can read this to pass the time as we drive along today: Family Disneyland Chaos Trip It was a sunny Saturday morning when four families from Utah embarked on an epic journey to the happiest place on Earth: Disneyland. The first stop? St. George, a desert oasis where they would all rendezvous and spend the night before continuing to Anaheim. Each family had a unique adventure on the long drive to St. George, filled with laughter, chaos, and more than a few bathroom breaks.
