Mickey and Friends Parking Garage

 Until Lissa and crew discovered the Toy Story parking area we would always park in the Mickey and Friends parking garage and ride the giant escalators to the tram.




You may be wondering why I'm doing a post about the parking area.  Yeah, me too.  Maybe because when we get to the parking it starts to feel really exciting because we're about to enter the park.

The garage holds 10,500 cars.  More cars than in all of Blanding!



It's good to get there early.  If you do, you get to park out in a regular parking lot, next to the Mickey garage.  That means you don't get to ride the escalators, but you are really close to the trams.



It's also a good idea to take a picture by the pillar where you leave your car.  The structure has several levels and they all look the same.  The place is huge and if you're not paying attention it's really easy to lose your car!

I Got a Hankerin' for a Churro

Sometimes I just crave a churro.  But not any churro.  I want a Disney churro and I want to eat it in the park!  If it wasn't a 10-hour drive down (and thousands of dollars) I'd go get a churro and ride Pirates right now! Here is Gage with a caramel apple churro.  I bought this for myself, took a bite, and offered a bit to him.  He liked it so much he took the rest of it! Autopia Go Carts

This ride...it's not really a ride.  It looks cool because you get to drive a car. I'll be that was a real treat for lots of people when the park opened in 1955.  The issue now is that we've all seen cars, ridden in cars, and know all about cars.  The novelty of driving a car is long gone.  In fact, in order for us to even get to the Autopia attraction we have to ride in a car for a good 10+ hours! The other thing about this ride is how slow the cars actually go.  The last time I rode this ride I was pressing my foot so hard on the gas pedal and we topped out at a whopping 4mph.  That is just a bit north of walking speed.  It's a bit disappointing. The last complaint I have about this ride is the weird guiderail in the middle of the track.  That thing makes it really difficult to goof off as you drive along.  I think you could probably just push the gas pedal and never touch the steering wheel.  That guiderail will keep you in the middle of the road. The best laid plans...

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." -Robert Burns I have been so excited for so long for this trip.  Tomorrow we will head for California!  I have planned this out in my mind many, many times.  I take great joy in planning trips and this one has been no exception.  In fact, 195 blog posts in a row should tell you how much I have enjoyed planning this trip.  One day, out of boredom, I planned our first day at Disneyland.  Step-by-step plans on how to attack the park, have fun, honor our Disney traditions, and try new things.  Here's the map I created-I hope this looks okay: 1. We enter through the turnstiles at approximately 7:30am to make sure we get there for rope drop. We can take a family picture here, and maybe we should since the rope won't drop until 8am. 2.
