Random, Fun Pics

Here comes another round of random pictures. No theme, nothing specific, just some fun pictures from previous trips.

Here we have a bunch of kids at the beach.  I believe that is the Santa Monica Pier in the background. In the foreground we see some family. Lissa is wearing the red shirt and I think she's holding a baby.  She's also keeping an eye on the baby standing right next to her.  I can also see Zac and Trev in this picture.  Where has the time gone?


One time at Disneyland we saw a celebrity named Atticus Shaffer. He's an actor best known for playing Brick Heck on one of my favorite sitcom The Middle. He whispers things and is generally weird in the show.  In real life he has type four osteogenesis imperfecta.  Basically, he has very fragile bones.  Anyway, we snuck a picture of him as he walked to Jungle Cruise.


Here's a picture of Trevor sitting by a famous statue.  Do any of you know what the name of this statue is? Don't bother looking it up because I'm about to tell you about it. It's called Partners and it was completed in 1993 by  Blaine Gibson.  It depicts Walt Disney holding Mickey Mouse's hand. The plaque below the statue quotes Walt Disney as saying, "I think most of all what I want Disneyland to be is a happy place...where parents and children can have fun...together."



Some years ago I got on a kick where I liked to eat at Bucca Di Beppos.  This has always been a fun restaurant for me. They serve the food family style, which is pretty unique.  Also, the food is really good. The giant meatballs are a novelty, for sure. One time, when we went to Disneyland, our hotel was very near this restaurant and we went for Mandy's birthday.



Last picture for today. Here we are at the hotel eating breakfast.  On our next trip we will probably miss the hotel breakfast because we want to get to the park for rope drop. Don't worry, we'll get beignets and breakfast chimis at the park, so you won't be hungry! Anyway, look at this picture.  It looks like we are the only ones at the hotel.  Lissa is looking at the camera, but we see Mom and Brandon and Dad and Uncle Big Christian in the background.  Fun!

    Random pictures are the best. They help paint a picture for the whole trip rather than just being in Disneyland

I Got a Hankerin' for a Churro

Sometimes I just crave a churro.  But not any churro.  I want a Disney churro and I want to eat it in the park!  If it wasn't a 10-hour drive down (and thousands of dollars) I'd go get a churro and ride Pirates right now! Here is Gage with a caramel apple churro.  I bought this for myself, took a bite, and offered a bit to him.  He liked it so much he took the rest of it! Here's Gage with a caramel popcorn churro.  I'm not in the picture (because I'm taking it) but I learned my lesson about churros so I bought him one and me one.  This is my least favorite churro.  The popcorn was a bit stale. Autopia Go Carts

This ride...it's not really a ride.  It looks cool because you get to drive a car. I'll be that was a real treat for lots of people when the park opened in 1955.  The issue now is that we've all seen cars, ridden in cars, and know all about cars.  The novelty of driving a car is long gone.  In fact, in order for us to even get to the Autopia attraction we have to ride in a car for a good 10+ hours! The other thing about this ride is how slow the cars actually go.  The last time I rode this ride I was pressing my foot so hard on the gas pedal and we topped out at a whopping 4mph.  That is just a bit north of walking speed.  It's a bit disappointing. The last complaint I have about this ride is the weird guiderail in the middle of the track.  That thing makes it really difficult to goof off as you drive along.  I think you could probably just push the gas pedal and never touch the steering wheel.  That guiderail will keep you in the middle of the road. The best laid plans...

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." -Robert Burns I have been so excited for so long for this trip.  Tomorrow we will head for California!  I have planned this out in my mind many, many times.  I take great joy in planning trips and this one has been no exception.  In fact, 195 blog posts in a row should tell you how much I have enjoyed planning this trip.  One day, out of boredom, I planned our first day at Disneyland.  Step-by-step plans on how to attack the park, have fun, honor our Disney traditions, and try new things.  Here's the map I created-I hope this looks okay: 1. We enter through the turnstiles at approximately 7:30am to make sure we get there for rope drop. We can take a family picture here, and maybe we should since the rope won't drop until 8am. 2. After the rope drops we make a bee-line for Pirates of the Caribbean. 3. We make a quick pit-stop at the Mint Julep Bar for some beignets.  On our way to Big Thunder we grab some breakfast c
