The best laid plans...

"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." -Robert Burns

I have been so excited for so long for this trip.  Tomorrow we will head for California!  I have planned this out in my mind many, many times.  I take great joy in planning trips and this one has been no exception.  In fact, 195 blog posts in a row should tell you how much I have enjoyed planning this trip.  One day, out of boredom, I planned our first day at Disneyland.  Step-by-step plans on how to attack the park, have fun, honor our Disney traditions, and try new things.  Here's the map I created-I hope this looks okay:

1. We enter through the turnstiles at approximately 7:30am to make sure we get there for rope drop. We can take a family picture here, and maybe we should since the rope won't drop until 8am.

2. After the rope drops we make a bee-line for Pirates of the Caribbean.

3. We make a quick pit-stop at the Mint Julep Bar for some beignets.  On our way to Big Thunder we grab some breakfast chimis.

4. We ride Big Thunder Railroad. Somewhere along the way we need to get the Genie+ pass for Indiana Jones.  We'll check on that as we move along.

5. We work our way up to the Millennium Falcon ride and ride it!

6. We enjoy a leisurely walk through Star Wars Land and jump in the line for Rise of the Resistance.  We should make sure we have some snacks and games because this will be a relatively long wait.

7. We wander on down to the Haunted Mansion.  We could, if we were so inclined, hit the Winnie the Pooh ride, but if we skip it that's fine too.

8. We ride Indiana Jones!  Then it will be close to lunch time so we should hit Bengal BBQ, and hit it hard! When we use our Genie+ on Indy we need to get a new one for Space Mountain.

9. After we eat we jump on the Jungle Cruise.  It's possible we will ride Jungle Cruise and then eat, but we'll just have to see what time it is, what the lines look like, and how empty our stomachs feel.

10. We cut back across Main Street (mobile order a Dole Whip, if you want) and ride Star Tours and Buzz Light year. After those rides, we hit the churro cart on our way to Space Mountain.

11. Ride Space Mountain. As soon as we use the Genie+ pass we need to line up the next one.  I think we could consider Matterhorn if the timing works.  We could also use it for the new Mickey ride in ToonTown.

12. Head for Matterhorn and ride it.

13. It's a Small World!  Let's ride this thing!

14. Head into ToonTown with the goal being to ride the new Mickey ride.  It's fun!  We can also consider Gadget's Go Coaster and Mandy's favorite: Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin. As soon as we use our Genie+ pass we should get a new one, probably for Alison Wonderland.

15. We head for Storybook Land Canals, Teacups, and Alison.

16. This is when we hit Mr. Toad, Peter Pan, Dumbo (naw) and Pinocchio. At this point we should be very tired and very hungry!

After that, the plan is up in the air.  We should be looking for a solid meal, not just junk as we walk around the park.  We should also be putting a plan together for the Genie+ pass and the rides we want to do after it gets dark.  Big Thunder, Cups, and Jungle Cruise are fun after dark. Maybe we want to hit Rise again if the line is reasonable.  Maybe we do a few laps on the Train so we can rest up. Maybe we want another crack at Space Mountain.  Who knows?  All I know is I'm excited!

  1. This sounds like an awesome plan, maybe someone in the group chat will tell us if it’s being used this trip? 🧐
